What? First Place Winner?!

This morning I stepped out of my comfort zone and into the wild to try something I never do- paint outdoors. It was well worth all the no-see’m bug bites I am itching right now! Note to self-next time don the outdoor cologne - “eu- d’bug spray!”

I only went to observe and visit one of my favorite artists whom I knew was going to be there and the next thing I knew I was accepting a challenge to show up today and paint a scene in 2 hours! I don’t own any fancy plein air equipment but I managed to figure out a make-shift set up and off I went to accept the challenge. I am honored and grateful to all the seasoned plein air artists who have taken the time to chat with me and encourage me to do more of this! I think I am hooked! Bonus- ran into old friends whom I have not seen in years- wonderful to see Tom and Linda! And they bought my painting! Thank you!

Guess I'd better get cracking and invest in some “real” plein air supplies and practice gaining a little more confidence and experience in this new areana.

Here we go on a new adventure!
