Always looking for what’s next, I began to explore the idea of painting outside “en plein air”. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed getting out of the studio and experiencing the colors, the light and the sounds of nature by painting outdoors. I applied and was accepted to paint at both the Wekiva Springs Paint Out and the Winter Park Paint Out. Challenge accepted! While still a novice at it, I’ve come to realize how important this way of painting has become to my growth as an artist and how integral it’s become to my art practice. Painting outdoors in Florida can be difficult. There are not too many months of charitable weather but the challenge is well worth it. Working in pastel, oil and acrylics - both in the studio and out - is what keeps me going these days.
