2021-2023

Still trying to “find myself” I continued to experiment with many mediums and styles, determined to settle on something that kept me interested in remaining an artist. I just couldn’t stop myself from wanting to learn and grow.

Much less colorful and more moody, my love of mark-making and drawing became evident as I experimented with mixed media.

These are some of the images that came from that time period.

APOPKA WETLAND SERIES

This collection was born out of the early days following the Covid scare when society was beginning to open up and we were daring to mingle with each other once again. It was a cold, grey wintery day and my family decided who cares if we get Covid?!! We were over it. So we took a ride together - in the same car - through the Apopka Wetlands park near home. I was completely enamored by the beauty I had overlooked in what I used to think of as flat, ugly Florida! Maybe it was my mother’s words, “Bloom where you’re planted” or maybe it was the many months of confinement that opened my eyes - I’ll never know - but some day I will paint a colorful collection of Florida Wetland paintings inspired by that outing and these mixed media sketches.

GETTING POTTED SERIES

This collection was a fun and expressive way to make marks and scribble on raw canvas with no plan or intention and let the painting present itself.
